🚨 POLICE CRACK DOWN ON ARMED ROBBERY SYNDICATE IN UPPER WEST; SIX SUSPECTS ARRESTED

The Upper West Regional Police Command has announced a major breakthrough in its fight against armed robbery following the arrest of six suspects allegedly linked to an armed robbery syndicate operating in parts of Wa West District and Wa Municipality.

The arrests, according to the Police, followed months of intelligence-led and coordinated operations targeting the suspected gang.

The Police say the syndicate was connected to a disturbing pattern of armed robbery attacks in which victims were reportedly attacked and wounded with machetes before being forced to disclose their Mobile Money (MoMo) PINs.

After obtaining the PINs, the suspects allegedly transferred money directly from victims' accounts into MoMo accounts controlled by the robbers.

Preliminary investigations have so far established that about GH¢22,070 in cash was allegedly robbed from victims, while an additional GH¢3,274 was reportedly siphoned through victims' MoMo accounts.

The Police have also retrieved seven mobile phones from the suspects for further examination as investigations continue.

👮 SIX SUSPECTS IDENTIFIED

The Police have named the six suspects as:

  • Amadu Moro, 35
  • Adama Yussif, 40
  • Nasiru Abdul Rahman, 52 — deceased
  • Iddrissu Adama, 35
  • Korika Issaka, 20
  • Zakaria Brigi, 21

According to the Police, preliminary investigations link Adama Yussif, Amadu Moro and the deceased Nasiru Abdul Rahman to several robbery incidents recorded between March and August 2026.

The incidents include alleged robberies at Piisi–Dapoha, Kpenateng Community, Kulkpara–Dapoha and Kpenateng Junction.

While six suspects have been accounted for, the Police say two other alleged members of the syndicate remain at large.

They have been identified as:

• Haruna, 30 — allegedly serves as the group's armourer.

• Amadu Mahamudu, 24 — identified as the son of the deceased suspect.

The Police say efforts have been intensified to locate and arrest the two wanted suspects.

With the alleged gang's operations now under investigation, residents across Wa West and Wa Municipality will be watching closely as Police work to determine the full extent of the syndicate's activities.
